VOLUNTEER!

YOU CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

NARHA centers could not exist without volunteers. More than 25,000 people volunteer their time at NARHA centers each year. 80% of all therapists, instructors and center administrators are volunteers. By volunteering, you can learn about people with disabilities, horses and make new friends. You'll gain tremendous satisfaction from watching the participants enjoy contact with horses physically, mentally and emotionally. You will “give back to your community” while having fun!  To learn more about volunteering, surf around this section of our web site.

NARHA Center Volunteers assist in a variety of ways.

  • Leading horses during lessons
  • Sidewalking (walking alongside the horse to offer the rider support when needed)
  • Grooming horses
  • Tacking up horses
  • Cooling out horses
  • Cleaning tack
  • Horse care
  • Helping with fund-raisers
  • Participating in public relations
  • Assisting with administrative duties
  • Planning of Special Events
  • Anything else that needs doing!

Flying Free accepts volunteers 12 years of age and older. However, children younger than 14 may not work directly in a riding session.

By volunteering, you can learn about disabilities, horses and make new friends. You'll gain tremendous satisfaction from watching your riders improve physically, mentally and emotionally. But most of all, you will be making life brighter for individuals with disabilities.
